In our tiny studio nestled in the Yukon’s boreal forest Ramshackle Theatre creates cardboard science fiction puppet shows, outdoor theatre events and original plays for Yukon and National audiences.

With an unquenchable obsession with cardboard we build our shows on a shoestring budget partly because times are tight but also because we believe that constraint fuels ingenuity.

Our cardboard science fiction puppet shows and original plays have toured the country with stops at the rEvolver Festival in Vancouver, Victoria’s Intrepid Theatre, Banff Centre for the Arts, Summerworks Performance Festival in Toronto, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and throughout the Maritimes.

We work with Yukon artists and creatives at our annual event Theatre in the Bush (TitB). At TitB we open the door to anyone with an idea for a performance or an installation to bring their idea to life in front of an incredibly supportive audience.

Theatre in the Bush was an anchor production of the Magnetic North Festival in 2016 and part of Canada Scene at the National Arts Centre in 2017. We also brought the concept of TitB to Wells, BC in 2025 and worked with artists from the region, rebranding the show as Theatre in the Bog (because they have a bog).

We are preparing to tour our new production Atlantis: a dystopian cardboard clown show in 2027-28 and beyond.

The People

Brian Fidler - Creative Producer

Brian has been performing, directing and devising original work in the north for over 25 years. He has hand-shoveled his long driveway every winter, broke his leg in a hockey game at the local rink, raised his family in the north and created shows with hundreds of local artists. Although he is not a born and raised Yukoner he considers these credentials enough to call himself a Sourdough.
